A gutsy defensive performance form the hosts plus a slightly under par performance from Seaham saw the points shared at Northallerton.

Seaham’s Tom Lawson scored for the 3rd game running to ern his side a point after the home side went ahead virtue of a deflected own goal of Tommy Bott.

Seaham made two changes from Tuesday’s win, bringing in Jack Patton for his debut in goal and Tom Lawson replaced Liam Hodgson. The home side made the early running and Michael Rae had an effort just wide after 5 minutes. Seaham’s midfield pairing of Thomas Bott and Mark Robinson started to get a hold on the game and chances were created for Adam Lennox, Danny Sayer and Lawson, however, all went begging.

Northallerton took the lead in the 24th minute, a free kick from Jack Stapley into the penalty are caused confusion between Bott and Patton, the ball clipped of the head of Bott and over Patton into the net. Seaham continued to press forward but chances were still being squandered before Lawson equalised in the 44th minute. Lennox fed the ball into the winger’s path, Lawson went past Shaun Hudson and fired into the net off the far post.

The Star started the second half brightly and a good strike from Lennox went narrowly wide. Home keeper Michael Roxburgh the did well to keep out an effort from Lawson. At the other end Michael Rae was causing a few problems for the Seaham defence but Patton was equal to everything fired at him with a number of good stops. Joe Kerridge replaced Danny Sayer for Seaham and his first touch piece of action was to take an 18 yard free kick which came back into play off the post.

With only minutes left it looked like Bott was to win the game for Seaham, following a determined run into the box, his shot was heading into the top corner before Roxburgh reached the ball to tip it over the bar.
