So this morning it was 2nd (willington)v 3rd, (us)
Us with a 100% record and free scoring willington who are 2nd on goal difference having played a game more. Willington had scored over 50 goals in 5 games including a 24-0 win several weeks ago.
We knew it was going to be tough.
My partner in crime, luke, came up with a game plan, switch to 3 at the back, 2 in midfield and 1 up front.
It was a tense affair from the off with both sides playing well. Half way through the first half we sent a long ball over that parker gave chase to, never giving up his shot looped over the keeper into the far corner 1-0. Willington pressed and pressed so we replaced parker with elise to strengthen the midfield, letting willington have the ball at the back and then pressing them once they started to push forward. This worked a treat, elise was amazing with her constant running and closing down. Ht 1-0
Into the second half we popped parker back up front. They came and they came but couldnt get past our back 3. When they did, daniel kept them out.
Another fantastic ball over the top from zane saw parker challenging with their keeper, parker coming out on top, 2-0
Two goals from two counter attacks, fantastic finishing from parker. They came at us again and again and finally got a player free in the box, he took his chance well, 2-1
Although we were playing a defensive counter attacking game, we had some fantastic moments of play, with leo and bobby in the middle producing some lovely footwork and passing, those two in the middle doing the job of 3, controlling the game, eventually sent parker clear. With just the keeper to beat, our little pocket rocket slotted home neatly to make it 3-1. Hard to believe this boy is nearly two years younger than some of our other players. A cool head and calm finish.
With them throwing the kitchen sink at us we once again brought on elise to bolster the midfield and take off hat-trick scorer parker. Elise did a great job once again, her work rate absolutely top drawer.
We saw the game out, a fantastic game between two good evenly matched teams.

Fantastic well rounded performance from the u9s today, every single player performed. We started quickly, parker getting us off the mark. We played some lovely football in the first half, freddy and bobby linking up well with elise breaking up their play. Parker got free at the back post and made it 2-0 with a very well taken goal, found the hole in the near corner.
We then went 3-0 up with a cracking free kick from around 25 yds from camdyn. Washington were then awarded a penalty which was well taken to make it 3-1, before bobby made it 4-1. Parker then grabbed his hat-trick to make it 5-1 half time. We came out second half blazing, and within 3 mins of restart, freddy had scored a great 3 min hat-trick to make it 8-1. With an extra player on the pitch, washington started to pin us back and deservedly scored a second.
Parker finished the scoring with his 4th and our 9th. Both zane and camdyn were rocks at the back with some great last ditch tackles. Noticable improvement from olivia, and jasper and jokubus both did well in goal.
