This afternoon’s game started well and our young guns were giving the Eaglescliffe defence a good testing, we put together some lovely passing moves which saw us take a two goal lead at half time
Eaglescliffe game plan changed in the 2nd half and we found ourselves under more pressure, the lads at times looked to be tiring and along with some poor refereeing decisions, Eaglescliffe got a goal back and this sparked our lads back into the game, several times we were adjudged offside or fouled and not even given a free kick, it started to go from bad to worse when a player punished for dissent was yellow carded & sin binned reducing us to 10 men, further dubious decisions by the ref saw another player sin binned, it was becoming embarrassing to watch as the lads tried to keep going but were struggling to stem the push by eaglescliffe and not getting support from the referee when fouls were committed against us, it was only time that saw the opposition get their equaliser
The game ending 2-2, but a game which was there for winning.
All the lads played their part and deserved more, from an outstanding goalkeeper through to our goal scorer
