The Star went down 3 - 0 at North Shields. All the damage was done in the opning half hour with former Red Star players netting the goals David Palmer in the 2nd and 8th minute and Anthony Myers in the 30th minute.

Despite the fact of conceeding an early goal Seaham continued to play their passing game that had been so succesful in close season and were often the better side for long periods.

Due to the absence of Mark Robinson, James Robinson, Bailey Judson and Tommy Lawson debuts were given to Adam Burnicle, Josh Crews Finlay Neary and Joe Innes with Owen Nichols and Jack Thynne not used substitutes.
