FIRST HALF

Redcar got off to a bright start. The Steelmen had the first chance of the game with a header that sailed wide of the post.

On the 10 minute mark, Joe Kerridge fancied his chances from 30 yards. His shot was comfortably saved by the goalkeeper.

Jordan Patterson clumsily gave away a penalty in the 14th minute. He was unaware of his surroundings as a Redcar player took the ball off him, Patterson then lunged in and took the Redcar player down. Clear penalty. Redcar converted from the spot and Seaham found themselves behind. 1-0

Seaham continued to make mistakes and Redcar found themselves 1-on-1 with Andrew Jennison. Jennison pulled off an excellent save to keep the score at 1-0.

Seaham got an equaliser 5 minutes later. Paul Weldon collected the ball at the back post and lashed into the roof of the net! The captain leading by example. 1-1

Seaham got lucky in the 34th minute as Jordan Patterson almost headed into the wrong net, only to be denied by the woodwork.

SECOND HALF

Seaham came flying out the blocks in the second half. It would only take two minutes to take the lead. The ball being played to Liam Heywood to slot it in the bottom right corner. 1-2

The Star would score again just minutes later and it was non-other than top goalscorer, Adam Lennox! Paul Weldon received the ball down the left-hand side and put an excellent ball into the box. Lennox met it at the back post with a volley through the 'keepers legs to give Seaham a two-goal lead. 1-3

The ball was in the back of Redcar's net for the fourth time in the 69th minute. However, it was disallowed due to the goal being offside.

Seaham should have been punished in the 87th minute as we played the ball directly to their striker who dinked the ball over Jennison. Luckily for the Star, the ball curled away from goal and we maintained our two-goal lead.

THE NOTES:

Seaham played an unbelievable second half to secure a place in the First Qualifying Round against Marske United. Andrew Jennison deserves more credit than given after an excellent performance between the sticks. Heywood had a great game in midfield alongside Liam Hodgson who put in a graft all game. Weldon led by example and put in a great performance at left-back. Joe Kerridge was lively and was causing problems for the Redcar defence. Adam Lennox was all over the place and ran the show as defenders struggled to keep him quiet.
