Manager Collingwood demanded a reaction form his players following the midweek defeat at Stockton and they responded very well.

Sean McRoberts was missing due to suspension, Liam Hodgson was missing through work commitments and Josh Elcoate was cup tied. Collingwood brought in Tom Lawson and Taylor Richardson to the starting line up.

The Star made a slow start in the game and allowed the hosts to get the upper hand in the opening 15 minute. Weldon was twice beaten down the flank by Max Bardsley but the wingers service into the box was poor and Seaham survived the early scares. Red Star keeper Andy Jennison was forced into a good save diving full length to push Oscar Campbell’s effort round the post.Mark Waite and David Henderson started to gain control in the middle of the park and pushed the Star forward. Seaham missed a great chance when Waites free kick into the area was missed by everyone and just flashed wide of the post, Lawson was picked out by Henderson and appeared to be pulled back in the area but went on to shoot narrowly wide. Richardson went past full back Sam Oliver and fired a cross into the area which Johnson headed wide. The deadlock was broke in the second minute of added time when Lawson again got ahead of his full back and this time steered his shot past Lee White and into the net to give Seaham a deserved lead.

The Star made a good start to the second period and doubled their lead in the 48th minute, Paul Gardiner found Richardson in space and the speedy winger raced past Oliver and fired past the onrushing White. Seaham were well in control of the game and the hosts were finding it difficult to mount any serious attacks. Seaham substitute Luke Sullivan was introduced with 6 minutes remaining and with his first touch of the ball almost scored a spectacular goal. Spotting the keeper of his line Sullivan struck the ball from the half way line and hit the underside of the bar before bouncing to safety.

A terrific performance from Seaham sees them progress into the 2nd round.
