Seaham fought hard for a point against Crook Town as tempers flared at the Independent Utility Advice Arena.

Crook took the lead in the first half from a Edward Thomas penalty which gave the visitors the lead going into the break.

Seaham found the equaliser in the second half as Liam Heywood slotted into a deserted net, however the Seaham goal scorer was sent off shortly after for a second yellow card following a soft foul on the halfway line.

A draw gave Seaham their first point at home since the beginning of November as they beat Bishop Auckland 3-0.

Red Star started the brighter of the two sides as Thomas Bott cut in from the left flank and guided his low shot narrowly past the far post.

The next chance arose on the half hour mark as Mark McLeod played a defense splitting ball to Josh Baggs but his looping shot evaded the far corner.

One minute later at the other end Jordan Patterson was alleged to have tripped Lee Hume in the area and Edward Thomas dispatched the penalty down the middle of the goal.

After the break in the 52nd minute there was a scramble in the Crook penalty area and the ball fell to James Robinson however his shot was deflected for a corner.

Minutes after Seaham drew level as Liam Heywood broke the back line and attempted to square the ball which found its way back to him and he slotted into a deserted net.

Three minutes later Heywood’s game was over as he made a soft foul on the halfway line and the referee deemed it enough to send him off.

Seaham dug in and remained the better side as Bott drove from the halfway line and fed Adam Lennox into a one on one but his shot went narrowly past the post.

The ball was in the net for Seaham with just three minutes to go but the referee spotted a foul on Crook goalkeeper Ronan Makepeace.
