The Star lost interest in this season’s FA Vase after losing a penalty shoot out 3-4 following a goalless draw after 90 minutes.

Today’s visitors dominated the first half, however after the break Seaham grew into the game and created enough chances to win the game in normal time.

Seaham’s Jennison was brought into action in the 4th minute collecting a through ball from Darius Palmer that just missed out finding skipper Matty Bryan. Max Nelson had to be alert on 15 minutes when Bryan controlled the ball well and saw his shot blocked by the Red Star defender.

Seaham’s first meaningful attack saw Adam Lennox chase down a ball from Tom Lawson, only to see his effort pushed wide by visiting keeper Morgan Bacon. Jennison kept the home side in the game by beating out an effort from Bryan just before the break.

The Star started the second half kicking against the wind and had more control of the ball in the midfield areas. Liam Heywood and Mark Robinson were stretching the visitors and it was down to Bacon in goal to prevent Seaham taking the lead by pushing Tommy Bott’s effort round the post.

Bryan was still proving to be the best attacker for the visitor’s but Nelson was on hand to close his space down and get some important blocks in. The Star introduced Liam Hodgson and Danny Sayer with 20 minutes remaining and stated to take charge of the game.

Josh Baggs went past full back John Pritchard to set up Lennox but Bacon was on hand to prevent the striker winning the game. Wythenshawe’s Brad Byrne received his second yellow card on 86 minutes and was sent off.

The penalty shoot out which decided the game saw Jennison save the visitors third kick, however Lennox has his kick saved and Hailes effort struck the post allowing Wythenshawe to progress with a 4-3 win
