Morpeth Town were too good in the end for Seaham Red Star as both teams battled it out in this Friendly Group Stage match.

Credit where credit's due, Morpeth Town were working tirelessly, and were rewarded with a 6th minute goal when ruthless finishing saw home keeper Chris Bannon left stranded.

Things rapidly got worse for the Star, when Morpeth Town added a second with a well worked goal in the 8th minute.

The visitors made it 3 goals to nil after 17 minutes with a penalty following a challenge from Gillesphey. Keeper Bannon was sent the wrong way with a well taken spot kick.

Goal number 4 fo Morpeth Town in the 27th minute.  A great strike following a nice passage of play, that saw the home defence opened up far too easily.

A shot from Josh Winthrop in the 37th minute was tipped away by the Morpeth Town goalkeeper.

An instinctive strike inside the box from Dan Wilson in the 39th minute resulted in a great goal for Seaham Red Star, to give the home supporters something to cheer.

Two goals in a minute before the break gave Morpeth a 6-1 half time lead.

That lead was increased 4 minutes after the break when Phillips fire in from long range, catching keeper Bannon out.

The Star made a number of changes with 4 trialists (from the Red Star Under 18 side) on 56th minutes. The changes had a great impact and lifted the home side. An acrobatic save was required from the Morpeth Town goalkeeper, after a Sean Mcroberts shot was heading in.

Goal for Seaham Red Star. In the 77th minute on of the trialist's  picked up the ball after a great through-ball from David Robinson and hit a crisp strike straight into the back of the net.

It was catching practice for the Morpeth Town keeper in the 86th as he watched David Robinson ’s shot fall safely into his hands.

Following a very disappointing opening half it was good to see a competetive second period and the introduction of the trialists certainly lifted the rest of the home side to show that they are capabale of competing with the best.
