Seaham Red Star made it back-to-back wins for the first time this season after a stunning second-half performance saw them beat North Shields.

Michael Chilton's second-half brace inspired Seaham Red Star to come from behind to beat North Shields 2-1 at the Daren Persson Stadium.

Jack Cooper's curling effort put the hosts ahead on 28 minutes as the wind played a big factory during the first 45 minutes.

Seaham were pushing for an equaliser, after half-time, and found one when Chilton's low strike went under the 'keeper and in, just after the hour mark.

The striker was at the heart of the action, on 83 minutes, as he brought down Lee Kerr's cross before rifling into the roof of the net.

The Star saw out the remaining minutes to pick up their second-consecutive win, for the very first time this season.

Manager Mark Collingwood introduced new signing Kerr straight into the starting line-up, however, it was the hosts that started the brighter.

Craig Spooner went close on four minutes before 'keeper Chris Bannon was called into action, minutes later, as he pushed away Paul Robinson's in-swinging corner.

Seaham's first opening was created midway through the first-half when Dan Wilson rolled the ball to Chilton, who flicked goalwards at the near post and was denied by a great reaction save.

The Robins broke the deadlock on 28 minutes after Cooper cut in from the right and curled across and into the far corner of the net.

Wilson had the best chance of the half for the visitors as Kerr's free-kick was nodded down before the striker fired just over the bar from close range.

Shields should've doubled their advantage on the stroke of half-time. Jordan Summerly pulled the ball back to the unmarked Cooper, who failed to hit the target from inside the area.

After the break, Seaham started on the front foot in search of an equaliser and Liam Gillesphey went close on 50 minutes.

Four minutes later, Michael Robinson's clearance was intercepted and played inside to Wilson, but, with the goal gaping, he couldn't connect well with his effort and the hosts were let off the hook.

Collingwood's side were on top and their dominance prevailed as they scored an equaliser on 66 minutes.

Chilton produced a composed finish from inside the area, slotting under the 'keeper and into the net.

The Star had the wind in their sails and could smell blood in the water as they went in search of a winner.

Chilton headed Kerr's cross narrowly wide before Wilson was denied by a great save from the Shields 'keeper.

With seven minutes remaining, Seaham edged ahead in the game after a fantastic passage of play.

Kerr floated a cross into the penalty area, Chilton brought the ball down clinically and rifled into the roof of the net to spark jubilant scenes.

Seaham 'keeper Bannon kept his side ahead with two fantastic saves within the space of three minutes.

Gareth Bainbridge was denied on both occasions, with Bannon quickly closing down the striker and making stops from point-blank range.

Wilson was denied a goal against his former club in additional time, but the Star saw out the remaining minutes to pick up a valuable three points.
