FC Hartlepool produced a superb performance to put out their Division One opponents on their own ground and put themselves into the semis. Seaham had the better of the early exchanges but Hartlepool grew into the match and at half time it was goalless and anyone’s game. The visitors broke the deadlock just two minutes into the second half when Fin Smith finished well into the top corner to put them in front. McGee almost made it two but the keeper saved in a one and one situation and just a few minutes later the keeper touched Jackson’s shot onto the bar as the visitors turned the screw. Seaham made them pay for those missed chances as they drew level with ten minutes to go as O’Connor’s long range effort flew into the top corner for a cracking equaliser. With five minutes to go the visitors regained the lead when McGee got to the touchline and he pulled the ball back for Fin Smith to score his second goal and put them back in front. The visitors keeper then kept them in front when he produced a great save from the Seaham stricker and FC broke away on the counter attack to see McGee fire home a third goal and secure the win.
