Three wins on the trot for Benfield to take the points back up the A19. It was the perfect example of a game of two halves. The visitors took the lead on twenty three minutes when Bennett converted a penalty and five minutes later they doubled that lead when a defensive mistake saw Zych set up Hargrave to lift over the defence and into the roof of an empty goal. Just seven minutes later it got better for the visitors when Fryatt produced a great ball and Millington finished off the move. Five minutes before the interval the Tynesiders got another when Zych was left with a tap in after a great move. So a rampant first half finished with Benfield four up. Don’t know what was said in either dressing rooms at half time but within two minutes of the second starting Seaham pulled a goal back when Colquhoun scored and on the hour they got another back when Wearmouth scored. On sixty six minutes the hosts got a third goal when Wiers got another back. The comeback was certainly on but Benfield saw out the last twenty four minutes to ensure they took the points although it was a lot closer in the end than what it appeared to be at half time.
