A highly competitive opening game of the season was won by Auckland but it wasn’t as easy as the score suggests. The home team took an early lead on 6 minutes when following a Mitchell corner Brown volleyed home from the edge of the box. Seaham posed a threat at times and West Auckland had several chances but it was only in the last 8 minutes when Auckland made the game theirs. On 83 minutes Scott was put through on goal and he slid it through the keeper’s legs for number two and then in added on time Harrison played a quick ball into Scott and he drilled it into the corner of the goal to secure the victory.
