Manager Collingwood named an unchanged team for the visit of newly promoted Northalleton. Michael Chilton was fit again ad took his place on the bench alongside new signing goalkeeper Aaron Steavens.

With a strong wind at their backs Seaham were attacking straight from the kick off. A cross from Scott Young found Dan Wilson in the clear and his well placed header was pushed round the post by the visiting keeper Tom Dawson..

Seaham’s pressure told in the 13th minute, Wilson was fouled on the edge of the area and Paul Weldon fired the free kick past Dawson. However, The Star never held on to the lead for long and striker Jason Blackburn reacted first onto a loose ball in the Red Star area, by striking it past the helpless Chris Bannon after 22 minutes.

Seaham’s Liam Gillesphey picked up a bad knock after 35 minutes and was clearly struggling to carry on, Blackburn in particular saw the opportunity to put pressure on the makeshift central defence pairing and was unlucky not to put put his side in front heading narrowly wide from Shaun Hudson’s corner.

The second half started with Jacob Dow replacing Gillesphey and making his debut for the Red Star. A long ball through the heart of the defence created an opening for Northallerton and Blackburn latched onto the ball and chipped it past the onrushing Bannon to give the visitors a deserved lead. The Star clawed their back into contention in the 55th minute. A cross from Sean McRoberts wasn’t dealt with by the Northallerton defence and after a couple of ricochets David Robinson forced the ball home from close range.

With the game in the balance it was the visitors who claimed the all important 3rd goal. Full back Gary Shaw directed a free kick into the penalty spot area and Connor Lowes was allowed to attack the ball unchallenged and steered his header past Bannon. The Star three more players into attack to try to retrieve the game and were caught our when 8 minutes from time. Weldon fouled Blackburn and Hillery stepped up to place his 29 yard free kick past Bannon.

The Star looked tired going into the last quarter of the game and were punished by a keener set of lads that were definitely up for the challenge. In the end Northallerton deserved all 3 points
