Seaham Red Star and Bishop Auckland will share the points as neither team could find that decisive goal with both teams providing an entertaining match.The Star were made to rue there missed chances as the hosts scored twice in the last 12 minutes to win a point. .
Seaham Red Star were the first to press, but a strike by Richie Coulson was a little tame and easily caught by the Bishop Auckland keeper, Nick Liversedge.
Liversedge showed great athleticism to pull off a world class save to deny Liam Gillhesphey in what looked like a certain goal in the 15th minute, when his headed effort was goalbound. Dan Wilson followed up with a strong shot that was also well saved by the home keeper.
Seaham’s, Scott Young was booked in the 20th minute, receiving a yellow card for a mistimed tackle.
The visitors were well on top at this stage and Liversedge was again in action, this time saving a well struck shot from Josh Winthrop in the25th minute
Another shot from Josh Winthrop in the 27th minute was tipped away by the Bishop Auckland goalkeeper at the expense of a corner kick
Liam Gillhesphey hit a tremendous shot, but again, the Bishop Auckland goalkeeper pulled off a top quality save to deny the 29th minute strike.
In a rare attack from the home side Bishop should have taken the lead. Chris Winn was fouled in the box by Young and referee Mr Cann was on the spot to award a penalty kick in the 40th minute. Bishop’s skipper Michael Hoganson struck his kick well but it hit the post and went out for a goal kick.
The second half started with the scores level, however, that changed in the 55th minute. A good run down the left saw Richie Coulson reach the bye line and his cross into the box was turned past the keeper by full back Hoganson.
The Bishop Auckland manager decided to introduce some fresh legs with a substitution in the 56th minute. Bringing on Johnson, Prudhoe and Nixon.
The Star increased their lead thanks to an instinctive strike from 20 yards from Richie Coulson in the 61st minute which resulted in a great goal for Seaham Red Star.
68 minutes in the Bishop Auckland 's player Daryll Hall was booked for a bad tackle.
The changes lifted the home side and after a sustained period of pressure Johnson headed home from close range to give the hosts a lifeline in the 79th minute.
Disappointment was in the air for Seaham Red Star, as Bishop Auckland equalised in the 88th minute wit a long range strike from Prudhoe. Worse could have followed in injury time but Johnson headed over from close range.
